New Rumors on WNBA Finals Schedule Conflicts for Angel Reese's Dream, Valkyries with Warriors, Hawks

Once again, the WNBA is facing major uncertainty about where an Atlanta home game will be played, with a Game 6 now guaranteed in the city.

According to ESPN's Alexa Philippou and Ramona Shelburne, "Nobody knows where or even when the game will be played despite a furious round of negotiations spilling into Sunday between the WNBA, NBA, Valkyries, Dream and Atlanta Hawks."

The Dream hosted Games 3 and 4 at the State Farm Arena after negotiations with the Hawks and compromises made by both sides, with their own home arena—the Gateway Center Arena—only having a capacity of 3,500.

But according to ESPN's report, "With the Hawks hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers at State Farm the night of Game 6, along with other scheduling complications, the situation is more complex than what the leagues dealt with earlier in the series and could have millions of dollars of impact on both leagues."

At this point, the Dream seem resigned to the possibility of playing in front of just 3,500 fans.

"We are waiting to hear from the league if any changes can be made to allow us to play in State Farm Arena," the team said in a statement. "If not, the game will be played in Gateway Center Arena."

Games 3-4 were able to be played in the State Farm Arena after the WNBA shifted Game 3 up by a day, while the Hawks agreed to holding a doubleheader with the Dream on Saturday for Game 4.

Game 6 seems to be more complicated, with both the Hawks and Cavs on the second leg of a back-to-back that night, though the NBA is exploring its options.

Per ESPN's report, the league "has been working with the Hawks and Cavaliers to determine if Thursday's game could be switched to an alternate date—or even to Cleveland. While some stakeholders feel the onus should be on the NBA to move its regular-season game so the WNBA Finals can be prioritized, there has been pushback from others that the domino effects of moving that game are too complicated."

Another option would be delaying Game 6 until Friday, Oct. 30 and Game 7 to Tuesday, Nov. 3, per ESPN, though both teams would need to approve such an option. The Valkyries reportedly have some concerns about adding three days between both Games 5-6 and again between Games 6-7, but said in a statement they would "fully support what's best for the league and will stand behind whatever it decides."

Nov. 3 is an election day, a date the NBA has recently avoided scheduling, but the Golden State Warriors already have home games scheduled for Nov. 1-2.

Long story short—there are a lot of moving pieces that need to be properly sorted before the Game 6 puzzle can be solved.
