Poll: Should the Redskins keep Jason Campbell?
It’s the question on every Redskins fans lips right now: Will the team keep Jason Campbell after this season? Campbell will be an unrestricted free agent and at liberty to leave if the NFL and the NFLPA [player's union] reach a collective bargaining agreement [CBA]. If no agreement is reached, which is considered the most likely scenario by a wide margin, Campbell will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season. That means the Redskins can retain his rights with a minimum tender offer of $3 million. Any team that tries to sign Campbell would have to give up a first and a third round pick, something that is unlikely to happen.
The question is: Should the Redskins keep Jason Campbell beyond this season. If you’re a reader of DC Pro Sports Report you know our view on this subject. We want Campbell back and the first round pick used to shore up the ramshackle offensive line. However, the Redskins front office is reportedly scouting college quarterbacks like Colt McCoy of Texas and Jimmy Clausen of Notre Dame. [University of Washington QB Jake Locker, thought by many to be the best pro prospect at quarterback decided to stay in college for his senior season.] There is also the possibility that the team could let Campbell leave and pursue an experienced NFL QB in free agency, though who that would be is a mystery at this point.
