The BIG3 basketball league begins its 2021 season on Saturday in Las Vegas.

The three-on-three competition took a hiatus in 2020 and is back for its fourth season with plenty of former NBA stars ready to fight for the championship.

The season kicks off with a six-game Saturday slate at the Orleans Arena that starts with Enemies facing Power.

Reigning champion Triplets, a team led by Joe Johnson, takes on Bivouac in the weekend's second contest.

The eight-week schedule will primarily be played in Las Vegas. A few weeks will be held in New Orleans and the championship round is slated for the Bahamas in early September.

The full rosters for the league's 12 teams can be found here on the league website. Joe Johnson, Nick Young and Greg Oden are among the former NBA players participating in this year's competition.

The BIG3 will split its regular-season operation between the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and Xavier University in New Orleans.

The first three weekends and the last two Saturdays of play will be in Nevada, while the stretch in New Orleans features three games in a one-week span for every team.

Triplets is aiming to become the first team to repeat as champion in the league's four-season existence. Trilogy won in 2017 and Power took first in 2018.

Johnson is the main draw of the Triplets team, and he was the best player in the league in 2019. During the BIG3's off year, he played in The Basketball Tournament for Overseas Elite and led them to a semifinal berth.

Johnson is joined by Al Jefferson, Jannero Pargo, Sergerio Gipson, Jamario Moon and Alan Anderson on the Triplets roster coached by Lisa Leslie.

Triplets will be one of the favorites to win the championship at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort in Nassau, Bahamas, during Labor Day weekend.

Josh Smith and Marreese Speights' Bivouac squad will get the first shot at the reigning champion on Saturday.

Their matchup will be preceded by the opener between Power and Enemies. Cuttino Mobley and Glen "Big Baby" Davis lead the Power squad, while Nick Young is the headliner on the Enemies roster.

Some other notable names across the league are Ricky Davis (Ghost Ballers), Mario Chalmers (3's Company), Greg Oden (Aliens), Brian Scalabrine (Ball Hogs) and Nate Robinson (Tri-State).

The coaches for 12 teams make up a who's who list of basketball greats. George Gervin, Julius Erving and Nancy Lieberman are among the coaches.

The league format is simple to follow. The 12 teams will each play eight games over the course of the regular season. The top four squads qualified for the playoffs in previous seasons.

Triplets should be one of the favorites to win the title. Killer 3s, Power and 3 Headed Monsters were the other playoff teams in 2019.

Tri-State may be the best team to supplant one of the four playoff sides in 2021. Robinson is joined by Jason Richardson, Larry Sanders, Earl Clark and Tony Wroten on a team with plenty of basketball experience and one that could take full advantage of the four-point shot in the middle of the court.
