Jason Garrett: Cowboys' Dak Prescott 'As Tough as They Come' amid Injury Rehab
New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett spoke highly of Dak Prescott, his former quarterback, on Thursday.
Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury in a Week 5 win over the Giants. Garrett, who was Prescott's head coach through his first four years in the league, discussed the quarterback who helped him earn a 40-24 record in Dallas from 2016-19 (h/t Pro Football Talk): "One thing I know about him: He's as tough as they come. He's mentally tough; he's physically tough. Surgery seemed to have gone well. Our communication over the last few days have been positive. It seems like he is in good spirits. Wish him nothing but the best. He's a special guy."

Offseason Moves for Every Team 👉
Prescott had surgery Sunday night after he suffered a compound fracture and dislocation in his right ankle in the third quarter of Dallas' 37-34 win. In a video posted to Instagram on Thursday, Prescott said he was "in great spirits" en route to a post-surgery doctor's appointment:
"So I'm just ready to start this road to come back. This little adversity is just going to be another chapter in the book. I'm excited to move forward and write it. ... I'm looking forward to this football season, seeing the game in a different perspective and supporting my teammates and those around the league that need it. I'm just excited—excited for God's purpose and God's plan. I know it's bigger than anything that I've seen or could imagine."
Prescott, who will enter free agency this offseason, visited the Cowboys' practice facility on Thursday, according to ESPN. The 2016 fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State had never missed a start in his first four years in the league.
"You just see the reaction everybody has that he's here," said Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy, per ESPN. "I just think that speaks volumes about him as a man and just the electricity that he brings to our football team."
