Sabrina Ionescu may not be on the basketball floor like she wants, but she's got some pretty good company while she rehabs her ankle injury.

The New York Liberty star posted a picture of herself watching movies with the family of late Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant:

Ionescu and Bryant shared a friendship before Kobe's death in a January helicopter crash that also killed his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. Kobe developed a passion for women's basketball as Gianna became a rising star in the sport, and Ionescu met the Bryants when they attended one of her games at USC when she played for Oregon.

"The basketball world is small, so we connected and spent time together from there,” Ionescu told Bryan Armen Graham of the Guardian. “It meant everything to me. He’d been there so he understood the pressure, just that willingness to be the best. He helped me through all aspects of life, not just basketball.”

Ionescu spoke at the memorial service held for Kobe and Gianna Bryant and has remained close with the family in the months since their passing.
