TMZ: Paul Pierce Sued over Altercation at Khabib vs. Conor McGregor at UFC 229
Paul Pierce reportedly is being sued for his alleged actions in the stands at the October fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The former NBA star was captured on video during the night of the fight in an altercation with security at T-Mobile Arena. While he didn't get physical on the video, he was heard calling the security guard a "racist."
According to TMZ Sports, the security guard in the video, Christopher Mostello, has now filed a lawsuit against Pierce for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Per TMZ, Pierce was attempting to get back to his seat but was "unable to produce a ticket to the guard at the entrance" to his section. After arguing with the security guard, Pierce continued on toward his seat and the guard called for backup. Mostello was one of the guards who came to assist his colleague. Eventually, Pierce was allowed to return to his seat.
Mostello said he was only doing his job, rushing over to the situation because he was told Pierce "had gotten aggressive and physical" with the female security supervisor who asked to see his ticket. He reportedly stepped in once Pierce pushed the woman aside.
Once the video became public, however, he said he received harassment and ridicule.
Mostello is reportedly seeking more than $15,000 in damages plus attorney's fees.
