Jaren Jackson Jr. Given 'Sell Me This Pen' Scenario in 2018 NBA Draft Interview
Michigan State center Jaren Jackson Jr. said an NBA team asked him to recreate a scene from the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street during a predraft meeting.
On Saturday, Caitlyn Holroyd of The Score passed along comments Jackson, one of the top prospects in the 2018 NBA draft class, made to ESPN this week about the unique request.
"They hit me with a 'sell me this pen.' And just like The Wolf of Wall Street, I had to sell it to them," he said. "... It was funny, the pen I had in the meeting, it clicked and I didn't think it was working so he asked me, 'Is it broken?' I said, 'No, it's just one of our more unique pens.'"
Jackson averaged 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 blocks across 35 games during his freshman season with the Spartans before declaring for the draft in April.
The 18-year-old New Jersey native is a projected lottery pick and could land inside the top five when the draft takes place June 21 at the Barclays Center in New York City.
He'll need to have quite an NBA career to reach a Leonardo DiCaprio level of celebrity, though.
