Report: Eli Manning's Memorabilia Fraud Lawsuit Reaches Settlement

The fraud lawsuit involving Eli Manning and the New York Giants has reportedly reached a settlement on what was supposed to be the first day of the trial, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

A memorabilia dealer accused Manning and the Giants of fraud, attempting to sell unused items as "game-worn."

Monday was slated to be the first day of jury selection but the start was pushed back and now won't begin because of the settlement.

As Jay Busbee of Yahoo Sports explained, attorneys for the plaintiff, Eric Inselberg, filed an email from Manning asking Giants equipment manager Joseph Skiba for "2 helmets that can pass as game used."

Still, the veteran quarterback has denied wrongdoing in this case while claiming Inselberg had trafficked in fake memorabilia.

"I will say I have never done what I have been accused of doing," Manning said last year, per Scooby Axson of Sports Illustrated. "I have no reason nor have I had any reason to do anything of that nature. I have done nothing wrong and I have nothing to hide, and I know when this is done everyone will see it the same way."

He will not get a chance to plead his case to a jury, as the two sides were reportedly able to agree to an undisclosed settlement.

On the plus side, Manning and the Giants can put this issue behind them as they try to prepare for the 2018 season, the quarterback's 15th in the NFL.
