NFL Draft 2018 Order: Team-by-Team 7-Round Listings

No. 1 Overall Pick

When it comes to the NFL draft, the leading storyline is always who will be selected No. 1 overall. This year, that pick belongs to the Cleveland Browns.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, it appears it could be down to Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen.

Cabot also reported that the Browns have "cooled" on Sam Darnold as the top overall selection.

Allen has plenty of potential—he has all the tools to be great, but after a career at Wyoming that left more question marks than answers in terms of how he handles blitzes as well as his low completion percentages, Mayfield should be the choice.

He is different to Johnny Manziel, so don't get jaded by those potential comparisons.

Mayfield is an NFL starting quarterback with few concerns overall.

Lamar Jackson and the Patriots

The New England Patriots are in the market for a quarterback, too.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Pats have interest in the Louisville product.

With the No. 23 and 31 overall selections in the first round, the Patriots have more than enough firepower to move up to draft a quarterback inside the top 10. Jackson and Josh Rosen could be potential targets.

Thinking of a Patriots team with Jackson after Tom Brady is gone is intriguing, especially when you consider the team of Jackson and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels down the line.

They could really make for some fun football in a few years.

The Dez Bryant Effect

As we head into the draft, we have Dez Bryant available as a free agent. It's not all that common that we have a wide receiver of his caliber available this time of year.

According to NFL reporter Ed Werder, the Baltimore Ravens offered Bryant a multiyear deal, but he's in the market for a one-year "prove-it" deal.

How will his presence on the free-agency market impact incoming rookies?

Right now, there's only one receiver who's as close to a lock of going in the first round as any, and that's Calvin Ridley.

Some teams that are in need of wide receiver help are the Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills to name a few.

Maybe these teams wait a bit to pull the trigger on one of the wide receivers after Bryant because they may not view drafting one as a high priority if they can swoop Bryant off the market.

Expect these wide receivers after Ridley to perhaps slip a little bit with Bryant still on the market.

Enjoy the draft!
