Terry Rozier, Thon Maker Double Technical in Game 2 Reportedly Rescinded

Tyler ConwayApr 18, 2018

The NBA has rescinded the double technicals given to Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier and Milwaukee Bucks center Thon Maker that came as a result of their exchanging of words in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's Game 2 matchup.

Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports passed along the news, noting the NBA said the exchange "didn't rise to a technical foul level."

Rozier and Maker briefly jawed back and forth after the former hit a dagger three that extended the Celtics' lead to 112-97 with 3:32 remaining. Neither player appeared particularly bothered by the situation, as Maker said something to Rozier as he ran back up the court.

Both players received technicals after Rozier turned around and said something back to Maker. A frustrated Rozier pleaded his case with the official but to no avail—at least until the NBA reviewed the case Wednesday.

Neither the Celtics nor the Bucks benefited from the call in real time. The Celtics went on to win 120-106.

Rozier had one technical all regular season; Maker did not record any. These aren't players who are likely to fly too close to the sun and risk a postseason suspension.

More than anything, this keeps some money in their pockets, as they won't be forced to pay the $2,000 fine that comes with picking up a technical.
