Ben Simmons Responds to Donovan Mitchell's 'Rookie Definition' Hoodie
Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons doesn't think he has much to worry about in the Rookie of the Year race if Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is arguing technicalities.
"If his argument is I'm not a rookie, if that's the only argument he has, I'm in pretty good shape, then," Simmons said, per Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.
The comment comes after Mitchell wore an Adidas hoodie defining rookie as "an athlete playing his or her first season as a member of a professional sports team" prior to Utah's game against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday:
Dennis Chambers of Basketball Insiders provided more of Simmons' response:
Mitchell had the emoji game ready after his team's win over Golden State:
Mitchell's hoodie addresses the fact the 76ers drafted Simmons in 2016 and not 2017, although the Philadelphia rookie missed what would have been his first season in the league because of a fractured foot.
Simmons already declared he is "100 percent" the Rookie of the Year to ESPN.com's Chris Haynes, and he doesn't appear to be sweating Mitchell's latest wardrobe choice.
