John Wall Says He Doesn't Get Same Calls as LeBron James After Loss to Cavs

Alec NathanApr 5, 2018

The Washington Wizards blew a 17-point fourth-quarter lead in Thursday night's 119-115 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and their hopes were dashed once and for all when John Wall's pass intended for Markieff Morris was intercepted by Cedi Osman with 2.5 seconds remaining.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Wall explained that he attempted the pass to Morris—who was stationed at the three-point line—because he didn't think officials would have called a foul had he finished his drive with a shot attempt.

"It's kinda tough," he said. "Because I try to do the same thing as LeBron. But when I turn the corner and get downhill I don't get those same calls when people put hands on me or contact with me. I already knew the play before that when I drove on LeBron I wasn't gonna get a call. So why even put myself in that position? Same thing happened with Jeff Green. I knew they wasn’t gonna give me a call, so I tried to find a teammate for a wide-open shot. Just give that guy credit for making a great defensive stop."

Wall finished with 28 points, 14 assists, three steals and six turnovers in his third game back from knee surgery. He also shot 6-of-6 at the free-throw line, while LeBron went 7-of-10 from the charity stripe.

The Wizards, losers of three straight, will try to find their footing Friday night when the Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the nation's capital.
