MMA Fighter Does Flip off the Spine of His KO'd Opponent, Gets DQ'd

Steven RondinaMar 24, 2018

There were a lot of big knockouts and surprising submissions that occurred on the regional MMA scene on Friday night, but the most memorable thing that happened wasn't a finish. No, the most memorable occurrence was a strange disqualification during a "post-lim" bout at LFA 36 in California.

In a heavyweight bout between Drew Chatman and Irvins Ayala, Chatman seemed to have a stoppage victory in his pocket when Ayala knocked himself back by driving his own face into Chatman's knee.

That could have gone down as one of the silliest finishes in MMA history right there, but things got even weirder when Chatman decided to do a front flip, using Ayala's semi-conscious body as a platform.

That celebration prompted the ref to instead change the outcome to a disqualification win for Ayala.

MMA can get weird sometimes, but it doesn't get much stranger than this.
