Pac-12 Tournament 2018: Semifinals Scores, Championship Bracket and Schedule

With two semifinal games on the schedule Friday, the 2018 Pac-12 tournament is intensifying with an automatic berth in the men's NCAA tournament on the line for the champion. 

Three of the top four seeds in the regular-season standings were still remaining in the semifinals. Oregon is the only outlier as the No. 6 seed. The Ducks won a nail-biter in the quarterfinals, knocking off Utah thanks to MiKyle McIntosh's three-point play near the end of regulation. 

Arizona, UCLA and USC are the other teams in the semifinals. The Wildcats are the defending Pac-12 tournament champions and won the regular-season title this year. 

Here are the updated results from the Pac-12 tournament as games go final, as well as a look at Saturday's schedule for the championship game.

USC 74, Oregon 54

USC's rise to the top of the Pac-12 is nearly complete after a dominant 74-54 win over Oregon in the second tournament semifinal. 

Since the inception of the Pac-12 tournament in 1987, USC has only reached the finals four times. The Trojans' lone championship came in 2009 when DeMar DeRozan was named MVP of the tournament. 

Jonah Mathews was the surprise star of the game for USC. The 19-year-old sophomore, who was averaging 9.4 points per game this season, dropped a career-high 27 points. 

Following his outstanding performance against Oregon, Mathews celebrated the moment on Twitter:

With the exceptions of MiKyle McIntosh and Elijah Brown, Oregon's offense struggled to make shots. That duo combined to go 15-of-28 with 37 of the Ducks' 54 points. The rest of the team went 5-of-32 from the field, including 2-of-15 from three-point range. 

USC's win secures a matchup with Arizona in the Pac-12 tournament final. The Wildcats breezed past the Trojans 81-67 in their only meeting during the regular season on Feb. 10. 

Arizona 78, UCLA 67 (OT)

Arizona played a perfect overtime to knock off UCLA 78-67 in the first Pac-12 semifinal matchup. 

After the Bruins tied the second half at 67 on Jaylen Hands' layup with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, Arizona went on an 11-0 run in overtime to earn the victory. 

Deandre Ayton almost single-handedly carried the Wildcats offense. The freshman star scored 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds. The rest of Arizona's team combined to shoot 32 percent (16-of-50).

CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein used one of the many quotable lines from The Sandlot to describe Ayton's effort against UCLA:

This game was a perfect summation of Arizona during the 2017-18 season. It started slowly, trailing 30-26 at halftime, turned things on coming out of the break and eventually overwhelmed an inferior opponent down the stretch. 

The Wildcats had two stretches this season in which they went 3-3, with the most recent one from Feb. 3-24. They appear to have gotten hot at the right time with four straight wins in March. One more will give them another Pac-12 tournament title and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
