Nationwide Search Begins After Red Panda's 7-Foot Unicycle Goes Missing
Like peanut butter and jelly, Red Panda and her seven-foot unicycle have been inseparable, until recently.
According to Lisa Fernandez of KTVU, Rong Niu, the acrobatic performer known as Red Panda, has been without her partner in presentations since Jan. 24, when it went missing at San Francisco International Airport.
Pat Figley, Niu's agent, said it's been difficult for his client.
"She's heartbroken," he told KTVU on Wednesday. "It's like her baby was kidnapped. She's had that unicycle for 30 years."
Figley recounted the day Niu's unicycle went missing. He said she was waiting for her bag at the airport and saw it on the conveyor belt, but "someone must have grabbed it."
There's a $2,000 reward for anyone who returns the unicycle—no questions asked.
Update: The original unicycle remains missing as of Friday afternoon, but the Golden State Warriors have stepped in to help.
"The Red Panda is legendary and absolutely loved and adored by everyone, especially our fans and season tickets holders," the Warriors commented in an Instagram post. The club added it is purchasing a new custom-made unicycle for the popular performer:
We love stories with happy endings.
