Giannis Antetokounmpo Comments on Blake Griffin Trade: 'He Gotta Get a Jacket'
NBA fans and analysts have spent all of Monday night and Tuesday dissecting the deal that sent Blake Griffin from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Detroit Pistons.
Some will scrutinize the Pistons' floor spacing. Others will wonder if the Clippers will keep selling or hope to improve with added depth.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, on the other hand, made a simpler observation: Detroit is colder than Los Angeles.
When asked by reporters about the trade (around the 2:35 mark of the video above), the Milwaukee Bucks star said Griffin has "gotta get a jacket" before giving a serious answer.
"You know, it's basketball," he added. "This is the NBA. I don't know the reason for him to get traded. I haven't looked at the media so far, but it's just a new opportunity for him. Hopefully he can figure it out on his new team."
Antetokounmpo has always shown an affinity for corny jokes. Perhaps he can take some comedy tips from Griffin, who has performed stand-up comedy—including a NSFW bit about trades that now hits close to home—and interned at Funny or Die.
It appears Griffin is wearing a jacket in his Twitter profile picture, so the Greek Freak need not worry about whether his new Eastern Conference foe will stay warm.
