Per TMZ Sports, Donaghy was arrested for aggravated assault after a man told police Donaghy threatened to use the hammer.

Donaghy said that while taking his daughter's keys to prevent her from driving in an altered state, the parents exited the house and began yelling at him. That led to Donaghy telling the dispatcher, "There's about to be a major altercation."

He also stressed the importance of getting the police to the location in Manatee County, Florida, as quickly as possible.

The 50-year-old Donaghy served as an NBA official from 1994 through 2007.

In 2007, it was found that Donaghy had bet on NBA games that he officiated, and he later pleaded guilty to gambling charges.

He was sentenced to 15 months in prison for the betting scandal.
