NBA Rumors: Latest Buzz on Carmelo Anthony Trade, Eric Bledsoe and More

Steve SilvermanJul 14, 2017

The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets are talking about a potential trade for Carmelo Anthony, and it could involve a third and possibly a fourth team.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reported that the Knicks want to move the high-priced veteran and that the Rockets are a willing trade partner. However, additional teams and players are needed to make the deal come to fruition.

Anthony has a no-trade contract, but he is willing to waive that if he is traded to the Rockets or the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Wojnarowski's sources.

The 33-year-old is said to be interested in playing with James Harden and Chris Paul, while the Knicks want to get younger and more athletic.

The Cavaliers may be interested in pursuing a deal of their own for Anthony, who averaged 22.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last year for the Knicks.

In addition to moving Anthony, New York is interested in acquiring a point guard.

Eric Bledsoe of the Phoenix Suns could be in their sights, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post

The 27-year-old Bledsoe has two years and $29 million left on his contract. But while the Knicks may want Bledsoe, they don't appear to have the salary-cap room or the trade chips that would entice the Suns to make a deal. But they do have a future first-round choice to offer, as well as shooting guard Courtney Lee.

The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in climbing the NBA ladder once again, and after selecting Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick overall in June's draft, they are talking with veteran point guard Rajon Rondo.

Wojnarowski reported that Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson met with Rondo in Los Angeles Tuesday. The 31-year-old Rondo averaged 7.8 points and 6.7 assists per game last year for the Chicago Bulls.

After an ordinary first half of the season, Rondo stepped up during the second half of the season and played well in two playoff games against the Boston Celtics before suffering a broken thumb.

He consequently appears to have resuscitated his reputation, and that's why the Lakers may be interested in his services.

If the Lakers were to sign Rondo, they would have to offer him a competitive deal because he also met with the New Orleans Pelicans Thursday, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN.com.

While the Pelicans signed point guard Jrue Holiday to a five-year, $126 million contract, head coach Alvin Gentry said Holiday is capable of playing with other point guards, according to William Guillory of NOLA.com.

Rondo has also played with DeMarcus Cousins when both were with the Sacramento Kings in 2015-16, and that could make the veteran guard a good fit with the Pelicans.
