BIG3 League Basketball 2017 Results: Chauncey Billups Leads Way in Tulsa

Rob GoldbergJul 9, 2017

Chauncey Billups might still be angling for an executive job in the NBA, but he showed Sunday he can still make an impact on the court.

The third week of the Big3 League took place Sunday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the BOK Center.

There were plenty of stars in attendance, some playing and some just watching, but LL Cool J was one of many who enjoyed himself:

Billups scored 21 points to help the Killer 3's earn their first win in a busy day of action for the three-on-three league.

The first game of the day featured an interesting coaches battle between Gary Payton and Clyde Drexler.

Payton and the 3 Headed Monsters prevailed with a dominant 50-32 win, handing the Power their first loss of the season.

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf led the way with 22 points and five assists on 9-of-14 from the field, while Rashard Lewis added 20 points in the win. Cuttino Mobley did everything he could, scoring over half of his team's points with 19 total, but he just couldn't keep up on the scoreboard.

The BIG3 account captured Lewis showing some touch:

Meanwhile, the fans in Oklahoma might have been the most excited when Russell Westbrook entered the building:

The second matchup of the day featured a pair of winless teams in Killer 3's and Tri-State, but it was the Killer 3's that finally got into the win column in Week 3.

While Jermaine O'Neal and Tri-State built a 25-14 lead at halftime, his former Indiana Pacers teammate Stephen Jackson helped lead a comeback for a 51-44 final. Jackson had 18 points while Billups led the way with 21. Reggie Evans also made a big impact with 12 points and 18 rebounds.

A win was probably important for Jackson to save face after his bold claim before the game. The 39-year-old was asked whether top players in the BIG3 could beat a summer league team, but he took it a step further.

"I honestly feel that if you got the top 10 guys here, we could beat an actual NBA team," Jackson said in a pregame press conference, via Fox Sports 1. "Not just the summer league, we'll beat an actual NBA team."

A loss might have been embarrassing after that, but his trio was impressive in the win.

Game 3 featured an even closer battle with the Ghost Ballers edging out a 50-45 victory over the Ball Hogs.

With last week's Player of the Week Mike Bibby limited in his action, Ricky Davis took over for the Ghost Ballers with 23 points and nine rebounds in the win. Rasual Butler had 19 points for the Ball Hogs, although team captain Brian Scalabrine didn't do much to help with just two points in a losing effort.

The final game featured the league's biggest name in Allen Iverson, although Ice Cube didn't want him getting all the attention. The BIG3 founder performed "It Was a Good Day" at halftime to get the fans on their feet.

Erik Horne of the Oklahoman captured the short show:

Iverson struggled on the court once again with only two points scored in what became a 50-42 win for Trilogy.

Rashad McCants had 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, helping Trilogy remain the only undefeated squad in the league. Meanwhile, 3's Company didn't have much besides DerMarr Johnson, who had two four-point shots on his way to 16 points.

What the day showed was there is a lot of parity in this eight-team league with just one undefeated squad and one winless squad remaining after three weeks.
