Zach LaVine Pranks Jamal Crawford into Filming Fake PSA for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'
Jamal Crawford probably should have realized something was amiss when he read, "Every 30 seconds in this country, a child goes without a hoverboard."
As a favor to Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine—whom he described as "like a little brother" to the Star Tribune in 2014—the Los Angeles Clippers veteran agreed to shoot a public service announcement for LaVine's charity that supports underprivileged kids. In reality, Crawford was the victim of a Jimmy Kimmel Live prank.
LaVine and Kimmel enlisted the help of Cousin Sal, who arranged a fake shoot that was directed by actor Thomas Lennon. Crawford uncomfortably followed Lennon's bizarre cues to rectify the "hoverific" tragedy that some children don't own hoverboards.
After applying fake tears to Crawford's face and yelling at child actors, Lennon instructed the 37-year-old to don a harness for an airborne stunt. LaVine then emerged, initially feigning ignorance before revealing the ruse.
Crawford later conceded to Kimmel that he's "probably too trusting."
