Jerry West Says He 'Wouldn't Want a Father Like' LaVar Ball
LaVar Ball has spent months trying to promote his Big Baller Brand and his son, top draft prospect Lonzo Ball, but the act has not impressed NBA legend Jerry West.
During a Thursday appearance on the Dan Patrick Show (via NBC Sports), West said he "wouldn't want a father" like Ball because he's "putting added pressure on his kid."
West did note that "you know [Ball] loves his kids," but doesn't like that LaVar puts the spotlight on himself more than his children.
Ball has become a media sensation as his son prepares to be one of the first players taken in the 2017 NBA draft. He has made outrageous claims, including that he could beat Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one and that Lonzo is already better than two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry.
West is currently an executive board member working for the Golden State Warriors, who are seeking their second NBA championship in three years when the NBA Finals begin Thursday night.
