Browns Rumors: Cleveland Reportedly Decided on Top Pick in NFL Draft 2 Weeks Ago
Speculation will continue about who the Cleveland Browns will select No. 1 in the 2017 NFL draft on Thursday, but the team reportedly already knows what player will lead them into the future.
NFL Network's Michael Silver reported on Up to the Minute Live (via NFL.com's Chase Goodbread) the Browns made up their mind about the top pick two weeks ago and "only three or four people in the world" know who the pick will be.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on April 12 the Browns were split on drafting Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett and North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with their top pick.
The expectation among draft analysts is that Garrett will be the pick. B/R's Matt Miller has the Texas A&M star ranked as the best player in this year's class and had him going first overall in his most recent mock draft.
The Browns also have the No. 12 overall pick, so if they opt to select Garrett first, they can address the quarterback position later in the first round.
