Draymond Green Puts on Best All-Around Performance in Warriors' Playoff History
Draymond Green tallied 19 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, five blocks and three steals during Sunday's 121-109 Game 1 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. In doing so, he became the first player in Golden State Warriors playoff history to lead the team in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, per ESPN.
Green—a strong candidate for Defensive Player of the Year—finished the regular season ranked second in steals per game (2.0) behind John Wall (2.1) and 12th in blocks per game (1.4), despite standing at just 6'7". He also finished first on the Warriors and ninth in the association in assists per game (7.0) and recorded the second most rebounds per game (7.9) behind Kevin Durant (8.3).
Earlier this season, Green was just six points shy of the historically elusive quadruple-double, recording four points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals and five blocks Feb. 10 against the Memphis Grizzlies. While he didn't hit that target, the star forward has recorded 17 double-doubles and five triple-doubles on the season.
Over 44 playoff games in 2015 and 2016, Green averaged 14.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks per game, per Basketball Reference. It remains to be seen how Green will perform for the long haul in the playoffs with new teammate Kevin Durant joining the fold, but Sunday's historic performance likely leaves the Warriors and their fans optimistic.
