Indiana, having capped an impressive 19-point comeback, led 105-90 with time winding down in the fourth quarter when the enigmatic swingman decided to do some stat-padding.
Stephenson scored an uncontested layup with 3.3 seconds remaining, and PJ Tucker and DeMar DeRozan took exception. The teams were separated, but not before they barked at one another.
DeRozan was ejected after receiving his second technical foul of the game, while Tucker and Stephenson, who walked away, received offsetting technicals.
Paul George laughed at Stephenson's late bucket following the win, but he acknowledged his teammate was wrong:
"That's the reason why Lance is Lance," PG-13 said.
