Princeton Misses Potential Game-Winning Shot in Closing Seconds vs. Notre Dame
Andrew GouldMar 16, 2017
No. 12 seed Princeton nearly began Thursday's March Madness slate with an upset over No. 5 seed Notre Dame. Down one point with the ball, the Tigers had a clear look at a possible game-winning dagger.
As the clock ticked, guard Devin Cannady attempted a relatively open three-pointer. The sophomore entered the game shooting 42.0 percent from behind the arc this season, but his last-ditch attempt caromed off the rim.
Fighting Irish guard Steve Vasturia secured the rebound and got fouled with one second remaining. He proceeded to clinch Notre Dame's victory by going 1-of-2 from the free-throw line, as Princeton couldn't get a final shot off.
