Marquise Goodwin, 49ers Reportedly Agree to 2-Year Contract
The San Francisco 49ers are not wasting time improving their roster, reportedly agreeing to a deal with wide receiver Marquise Goodwin.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Goodwin is going to the 49ers. Rapoport added the deal is for two years and up to $8 million with incentives in play. ESPN.com confirmed the report.
The 49ers' new regime with head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch are taking big, bold steps to their first offseason with the team. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported they are working to finalize a deal with Pierre Garcon.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Assuming the Garcon deal goes through, he and Goodwin will be excellent complements for San Francisco in 2017. Garcon has a familiarity with Shanahan's offense when the two were together in Washington from 2012 to 2013.
Goodwin brings the speed element to stretch the field. He struggled to stay on the field in four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, only playing in 39 of a possible 64 games since 2013. The 26-year-old did have his best season in 2016 with 29 receptions for 431 yards and three touchdowns.
Wide receiver was a position the 49ers needed to address this offseason. Torrey Smith was released on Tuesday, leaving Jeremy Kerley and Bruce Ellington as their top two receivers.
Rapoport reported free-agent quarterback Brian Hoyer will receive a two-year deal with the 49ers. He at least gives them a stopgap option at the position until Shanahan and Lynch can figure out a long-term solution.
Considering all the roster problems San Francisco has had on both sides of the ball, the duo of Shanahan and Lynch have to be aggressive in free agency. The draft will still determine when this franchise returns to contention, but the reported addition of Goodwin plus the other moves at least gets them closer to respectability.
