ACC Tournament 2017: Round 1 Scores, Updated Bracket and Round 2 Schedule

Tyler ConwayMar 7, 2017

Conference championship week has arrived in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with the bottom half of the bracket getting things underway in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday.

The trip to the Barclays Center marks a return to ACC roots. While the conference has long been associated with the southern East Coast—thanks in large part to the North Carolinian dominance on the hardwood—Syracuse.com highlighted the ACC's storied history with New York City.

This is the second straight year the tournament has been shooed away from Greensboro, North Carolina, which hosted five times in six years beginning in 2010.

Clemson 75, N.C. State 61

Jaron Blossomgame and Shelton Mitchell each scored 22 points, as the Clemson Tigers raced out to an early lead and never looked back in its 75-61 win over the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

The Tigers led for the game's final 37 minutes and 46 seconds and by as many as 17 points in the second half. While its offensive production largely relied on Blossomgame, Mitchell and Elijah Thomas (10 points), Clemson clamped down on the Wolfpack defensively.

N.C. State shot just 38 percent from the floor and 5-of-17 from beyond the arc. Dennis Smith Jr., likely in his final collegiate game, shot 3-of-12 and finished with seven points and eight rebounds. This was the final game for Wolfpack head coach Mark Gottfried, who will not be retained following the 2016-17 season.

Wake Forest 92, Boston College 78

Four Wake Forest starters scored in double figures, highlighted by a game-high 20 points from Bryant Crawford, as the Demon Deacons advanced to Round 2 with a 92-78 win over the Boston College Eagles.

Wake Forest shot 53.2 percent as a team and went to the free-throw line 43 times. John Collins and Crawford made 11 free-throws apiece, with the former finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Austin Arians and Keyshawn Woods each added 17 points apiece to round out the double-figure scorers for the victors.

Boston College, which finishes 2-17 in conference play overall, committed 28 personal fouls and missed on 12 of its 18 attempts from beyond the arc.

The win will no doubt help avoid pushing Wake Forest off the NCAA tournament bubble. The Deacons might be able to cinch an at-large birth if they can take care of Virginia Tech on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh 61, Georgia Tech 59

Georgia Tech's bubble has officially been burst.

Michael Young scored 17 points while Sheldon Jeter and Jamel Artis nearly went for double-doubles, as Pittsburgh held on for a 61-59 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech shot just 35.5 percent from the floor and hit on 4-of-18 attempts from beyond the arc in an ugly defensive contest. No Yellow Jackets player made half of his shots. Tadric Jackson (17 points), Quinton Stephens (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Josh Okogie (15 points, five rebounds) were in double figures but all struggled from the floor.

Pittsburgh was not lighting the world on fire but had four of its five starters in double figures. This broke a four-game losing streak for the Panthers, who closed their regular season with a 25-point loss to Virginia.
