ACC Tournament 2017: Bracket, TV Schedule, Dates and Predictions
North Carolina did not need to beat Duke Saturday night to clinch the No. 1 seed and the regular-season ACC title.
The Tar Heels earned those two honors earlier in the day when Louisville defeated Notre Dame. But there was no let up from North Carolina, as it gained revenge over the Blue Devils with a 90-83 victory. North Carolina had lost to Duke earlier in the year at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Tar Heels are in a familiar position. They defeated the Blue Devils in last year's season finale and then used that victory to springboard to a winning performance in the ACC tournament. From there, they went on to a brilliant run in the NCAA tournament that saw them get to the championship game before losing in heartbreaking fashion to Villanova.

Joel Berry II scored 28 points to lead North Carolina to the victory over the Blue Devils, and that win allowed the Tar Heels to go undefeated at home this season.
"I think our guys did a great job of just focusing in on the game today and not worrying about (how) if we lose, we're still the ACC champs," Berry said after the game (per the Associated Press via ESPN.com). "This gives us a little confidence going into the ACC Tournament, just like last year."

The ACC is once again incredibly deep, and it would not be a surprise if nine or 10 teams from the conference were invited to perform in the NCAA tournament. Bracketologist Joe Lunardi of ESPN has predicted that 10 ACC teams will make it into The Big Dance.
North Carolina (26-6, 14-4) has four players who are averaging in double figures, and it is led by Justin Jackson and Berry. Jackson is scoring 18.3 points per game and bringing down 4.7 rebounds per night. Berry is averaging 15.1 points each game and shooting 42.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Senior forward Kennedy Meeks scores 12.5 points per game and shoots an impressive 53.7 percent from the floor.
Florida State (24-7, 12-6) goes into the conference tournament as the second seed, and the Seminoles beat Miami in their regular-season finale, but they won just three of their last six games.

If Florida State is going to win the tournament, sophomore guard Dwayne Bacon will have to play in his best form. Bacon leads the team with an average of 16.9 points per game, and freshman forward Jonathan Isaac is also a key factor. Isaac is averaging 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per night.
Third-seeded Notre Dame (23-8, 12-6) dropped its season finale at Louisville by a 71-64 margin, and that ended the team's six-game winning streak.
It shouldn't take much for the Fighting Irish to return to top form in this tournament, and they are led by junior forward Bonzie Colson, who is averaging 17.0 points per game, connecting on 52.3 percent of his shots from the field and bringing down 10.4 rebounds per night. Colson can be counted on for leadership nearly every night.
He gets quite a bit of support from senior forward V.J. Beachem, who is second on the team with an average of 15.4 points per night. He is also connecting on 81.8 percent of his free throws and can help carry the team in that area at the end of close games.
Fourth-seeded Louisville (24-7, 12-6) comes into the tournament off of a solid win over Notre Dame, and head coach Rick Pitino's team has won eight of its last 11 games. That win was important to the Cardinals because it helped them earn a double-bye in the conference tournament.
Pitino was quite happy with his team's effort against Notre Dame. "Down the stretch we did some really good things with the game on the defensive end," Pitino said after the game (per the Associated Press via ESPN.com). "It was excellent defense, and offense, when the game was on the line and that is exactly what you want to see."
Sophomore guard Donovan Mitchell is Pitino's go-to guy, averaging a team-high 15.9 points per night and he is getting support from Quentin Snider, who is scoring 12.6 points per game. Deng Adel is the third Cardinal averaging in double figures, as he scores 11.6 points per night.
Prediction
While the Tar Heels and the Seminoles are the top two seeds in the tournament, the ACC is so deep that it would not be a shocker if any of the top eight or nine seeds got hot in Brooklyn and made a run to the semifinals or even the championship game.
The team that seems most likely to emerge from that group is No. 6 seed Virginia. The Cavaliers come into the tournament on a three-game winning streak, and one of those wins came over the top-seeded Tar Heels.
Guard London Perrantes is averaging 12.8 points per game, and he is getting support from fellow guards Devon Hall and Kyle Guy.
We see Virginia beating Notre Dame in the quarterfinal round and Florida State in the semifinals.
The Cavs will meet North Carolina in the championship game and attempt to clamp down on Roy Williams' team with their solid defense. Berry won't let that happen as North Carolina takes charge in the final 10 minutes and wins by double digits.
