Golden State Warriors vs. Washington Wizards Betting Odds, Analysis, NBA Pick
The Washington Wizards (34-23) will try to break a two-game skid and get back on the winning track when they host the streaking Golden State Warriors (50-9) on Wednesday as solid home underdogs.
The Wizards had won 11 of 12 prior to losing two in a row, while the Warriors will be going for their fifth consecutive victory both overall and in their recent series versus Washington.
Point spread: The Warriors opened as seven-point favorites; the total is at 229.5, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. (Line updates and matchup report)
NBA pick, via OddsShark computer: 120.0-103.1 Warriors (NBA picks on every game)
Why the Warriors can cover the spread
Golden State is unbeaten since the NBA All-Star break at 3-0 straight up but has yet to beat the number despite winning each game by double digits. This matchup with the Wizards provides the Warriors with their best opportunity to cover since they routed the Oklahoma City Thunder 130-114 as eight-point road favorites on February 11.
Golden State is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight games as a single-digit favorite on the NBA lines, and that is the case again here.
Why the Wizards can cover the spread
Washington is one of the best home teams in the league ATS at 20-12 to go along with a 24-8 mark there SU. The Wizards will also be motivated to show Maryland native Kevin Durant that he should have signed with his hometown team rather than with the Warriors, who still own the NBA's best record.
They have not suffered through a three-game losing streak since last November and failed to reach the century mark in scoring for the first time in 24 games with a 102-92 home loss to the Utah Jazz on Sunday. Washington has also not lost back-to-back home games by double digits this season.
Smart pick
The Oklahoma City Thunder closed as nearly identical road chalk last season when Durant visited the Wizards before becoming a free agent, and they rolled to an easy 125-101 victory.
Unfortunately for him, he played only the first half because of a foot injury, but Oklahoma City still crushed Washington. The Warriors are a much better team than the Wizards, and they will cruise to another double-digit win behind Durant.
Betting trends
Golden State is 1-4 ATS in its last five games.
Washington is 16-5 ATS in its last 21 games at home.
