Derrick Jones Jr. Fails to Connect on Final Attempt in 2017 Slam Dunk Contest

Rivea RuffFeb 18, 2017

With his last dunk of the night, Derrick Jones Jr. couldn't quite land the slam that might have given him the lead. It took the Phoenix Suns forward four attempts before he finally brought it between the legs and down through the hoop.

The failed dunk attempt still somehow earned him a perfect score of 50 from the judges, leaving the burden of scoring at least a 44 on competitor Glenn Robinson III for the final shot.

Even with a perfect score gifted to him by the judges, it wasn't quite enough to secure the victory. But with a strong performance like his, there's always next year.
