NBA Stars and Celebs Raise $500K for Sager Strong Foundation at All-Star Game
It wouldn't be a proper All-Star Weekend without honoring the late Craig Sager, and NBA players and celebrities went above and beyond in his memory on Saturday night.
After Eric Gordon edged out Kyrie Irving for the win in the JBL Three-Point Contest, TNT's Ernie Johnson announced they would put a minute on the clock, with $10,000 being donated to the Sager Strong Foundation for each shot the three finalists made.
But they didn't stop there. NBA great Reggie Miller, top shooters James Harden and DeMar DeRozan, WNBA star Candace Parker, DJ Khaled and actors Michael B. Jordan and Anthony Anderson all pitched in and shot three-pointers as well.
After landing 13 shots between them, Johnson approached Steph Curry to shoot a half-court shot, pledging to make the donation an even $500,000 if he could land it.
But Curry had a little difficulty activating his magic. To solidify the donation, Shaquille O'Neal bought out Sager's young son, Ryan, and lifted him to the basket to sink the final shot in a heartwarming moment.
