NBA B/R Kicks of the Week: Best on Court for NBA Week 8

Giancarlo Ferrari-KingDec 14, 2016

Don’t look now, but our NBA Kicks of the Week series is back with some more on-foot heat.

Over the last seven days, we saw a superstar guard debut his latest signature shoe, an unlikely member of the Los Angeles Lakers make the list and even a Nike Air Foamposite Pro appearance. Plus, for the first time ever, we’re throwing it back to honor a special pair of kicks worn in November—more on that later.

Understanding the criteria used for this week's list, here are the top five kicks worn by your favorite NBA players.

Timofey Mozgov: Nike LeBron 10 Soldier 'Player Exclusive'

1 of 5

Who: Los Angeles Lakers center Timofey Mozgov

Sneaker Worn: Nike LeBron Soldier 10 "Player Exclusive"

Let's all give a warm introduction to Los Angeles Lakers center Timofey Mozgov. This is his first appearance on our weekly kicks list.

By sporting a unique, purple-and-white pair of Nike LeBron Soldier 10s, Mozgov entered his name into contention as the top sneaker connoisseur on the Lakers—sorry, Nick Young—when they clashed with the Sacramento Kings on Monday.

We've had non-stop love for any variation of the Soldier 10s this year, but this Laker-colored print might be our favorite rendition to date.

Damian Lillard: Adidas D Lillard 3 'Roots'

2 of 5

Who: Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard

Sneaker Worn: Adidas D Lillard 3 "Roots"

Damian Lillard unveiled the "Roots" colorway of his all-new D Lillard 3 model on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

You might think the "Roots" concept comes from his start with the Trail Blazers, as the red colorway would indicate. That didn’t turn out to be the case. This sneaker actually pays immense levels of homage to the time he spent with the Oakland Rebels in AAU hoops.

The D Lillard 3 looks and acts the part. We're looking forward to seeing an additional slew of colorways from Lillard in the near future.

Zach LaVine: Nike Kobe 5 'Dark Knight'

3 of 5

Who: Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine

Sneaker Worn: Nike Kobe 5 "Dark Knight"

Zach LaVine has exploded onto the scene this year as a sneaker buff. His string of Nike choices have mainly been dedicated to rocking the classics.

LaVine recently unleashed a super-rare edition of the Nike Kobe 5s on Sunday. This version has been dubbed the “Dark Knight.” A matte black base combined with electric blue layering etched onto the toe and midsole creates a real Gotham-inspired silhouette.

Leave it up to LaVine to find and unleash these kicks. His streak of on-foot dominance continues to amaze.

Markieff Morris: Nike Air Foamposite Pro 'University Red'

4 of 5

Who: Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris

Sneaker Worn: Nike Air Foamposite Pro “University Red”

Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris has compiled quite the shoe collection over the years. Showing off in front of all the fans in Miami on Monday, Morris unveiled a pair of Nike Air Foamposite Pros in “University Red."

This is a later edition of the red Foamposite, as detailed by the black Swoosh emblem posted up on the outside of the midsole. This updated look hit retailers in April 2016, after its 2002 model, dubbed “Varsity Red,” was given the famous retro treatment.

It’s a loud shoe that continues to put Foamposites on the map, and with so many dope sneaker releases in 2016, these definitely flew under the radar.

Kyrie Irving: Nike Kyrie 2 'Dorenbacher'

5 of 5

Who: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving

Sneaker Worn: Nike Kyrie 2 “Doernbecher”

Nike’s annual Doernbecher collection never ceases to stretch the boundaries of creativity and imagination. With all of the proceeds going toward the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, it’s not only an innovative concept, but it's one that is also rewarding.

This year we saw various children from the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital cultivate and redesign some of Nike’s iconic pieces of footwear. Of the designs put forth, a special edition of the Nike Kyrie 2s really stood out.

Credit goes to Andy Grass, the young man who took control of this shoe. His unrelenting vision translated beautifully to the Kyrie 2 silhouette. For more on Andy’s incredible story, visit Nike News

Kyrie wore the pair back in November, but we thought it was fitting to honor this special shoe considering it's finally set to release on Saturday.
