Celtics Team Plane Receives Bomb Scare on Flight to Oklahoma City

Adam WellsDec 10, 2016

The Boston Celtics' team plane received a bomb threat Saturday during their flight to Oklahoma City for Sunday's game against the Thunder.

Scott Sullivan of CBS Boston first reported the threat.

According to Tim Martin of Fox 25 in Boston, the plane made it to Oklahoma City as scheduled, with the FBI and local law enforcement looking into the threat. Martin also noted a Celtics spokesman said there was no evidence of a bomb on the plane and players were on their way to the team's hotel.

Jay King of MassLive.com reported the team learned of the threat as the flight was in the air and that the players spent between 15 and 20 minutes at the fire department before going back to the hotel.

Per Scott Isaacs of WCVB, police are saying the threat was a hoax.

Celtics forward Jae Crowder addressed the bomb threat on Snapchat, which Logan Mullen of the Boston Globe captured:

The Celtics played at home Friday night, losing 101-94 to the Toronto Raptors. They are on a brief two-game Western Conference road trip, starting with the Thunder on Sunday and culminating Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs.
