Latest on Murray's Practice Status

The Raiders announced Murray was a limited participant in practice all week.

Raiders Need Murray Healthy Heading into Postseason

Murray's ankle has nagged him for the last two weeks now, as he was questionable to play for Oakland's Week 12 win over the Carolina Panthers. But he did manage to suit up.

Because the Raiders are a pass-first team, Murray's numbers have been down this season, as he has posted 471 rushing yards in nine games. However, he's been a touchdown machine, getting into the end zone nine times.

After showing flashes of brilliance as a rookie in 2014, Murray seized the starting job in 2015 and produced to the tune of 1,066 rushing yards, six touchdowns and 41 receptions for 232 receiving yards. That was good enough to earn his first career Pro Bowl nod.

Murray has lacked explosiveness at times and doesn't break many long runs, but he is at his best in short-yardage situations, especially near the goal line.

At 6'3" and 225 pounds, Murray is difficult to bring down, and his physicality is a huge asset to the Raiders when they are attempting to run the clock out late in games.

While Murray was largely healthy during his first two NFL campaigns, 2016 has been a different story. In addition to his current ailment, Murray missed two games earlier in the season due to a foot injury.

If Murray misses time in the future, it would take a huge dimension away from Oakland's offense. The passing game has proved capable of carrying the load when needed, but it will be far easier for opposing defenses to be singularly focused in the event of a Murray stint on the shelf.
