Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction
Jimmy Butler scored 20 points, Rajon Rondo added 16 points and 12 rebounds and the Chicago Bulls defeated the Miami Heat, 98-95, in Dwyane Wade's return to American Airlines Arena on Thursday night.
Wade spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Heat, winning three championships and capturing a Finals MVP in 2006.
However, he signed with the Bulls over the summer after a contract standoff with Miami management.
This marked Wade's first trip back to South Beach since joining Chicago, and he was greeted with a standing ovation in pregame introductions.
Wade only scored 13 points off 5-of-17 shooting, but he hit two big free throws to put the Bulls up by four points late, much to the dismay of the crowd he used to dazzle.
This was a tight game all the way through, with the score being tied at 53 at halftime.
Neither team led by double figures, with the largest lead being eight by the Heat in the first quarter.
Hassan Whiteside led Miami with 20 points and 20 rebounds.
Goran Dragic left the game in the third quarter after spraining his ankle. He had six points before departing.
The Bulls shot 41.6 percent as a team.
The Heat weren't much worse, hitting on 40.9 percent of their shot attempts.
Chicago will host the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Miami will play host to the Utah Jazz on that same evening.
