Matthew SchmidtNov 9, 2016

James Harden had 24 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds and the Houston Rockets topped the San Antonio Spurs, 101-99, at the AT&T Center on Wednesday night.

Kawhi Leonard missed a runner and LaMarcus Aldridge missed the tip-in before time expired.

For the Spurs, it was their third consecutive home loss.

Leonard led San Antonio with 34 points and seven rebounds.

Harden was simply brilliant in this game, controlling the tempo and doing a marvelous job of setting up his teammates out of pick-and-roll sets.

He found Clint Capela for lobs, dished to Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson for three-pointers and took the ball to the rack on his own sometimes, going 9-of-19 from the floor.

The Rockets led by as many as 13 points, but the Spurs rallied and took the lead in the fourth quarter.

Houston quickly rebounded thanks to Harden and some timely defensive stops.

Anderson added 20 points for the Rockets, hitting on four of his six three-point attempts.

Aldridge had a quiet night for San Antonio, scoring 14 points off a 5-of-15 clip.

As a team, the Spurs shot just 39.3 percent.

The Rockets, on the other hand, made 47.4 percent of their field-goal tries.

Houston and San Antonio will meet again on Saturday, this time at the Toyota Center.
