Dwyane Wade 'Thought About Cleveland' as Free Agent 'But Didn't Fit There'

Aaron Siegal-EismanOct 5, 2016

After Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and sign with the Golden State Warriors, you could say that Dwyane Wade's move to the Chicago Bulls was one of the biggest offseason acquisitions in the NBA

It clearly wasn't an easy one for the 13-year NBA veteran.

After winning three NBA titles for the Miami Heat, Wade felt it was time to leave South Beach for the Windy City.

In a recent SLAM Magazine article, the Chicago native explained why he chose the Bulls over the Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers:

"

For me, it’s as simple as, I got a deal in Miami for $41 million, I got a deal in Chicago for $47 million. It didn’t come down to the money. I thought about Cleveland, but I didn’t fit there. You don’t just do something because, Oh, I could win the ring there. I have three rings. I don’t need to chase the ring. This is what I wanted to do.

"

You can't blame D-Wade for his decision to leave Florida. It was time for him to return home.

This season could be an indicator as to whether he can bring the same success he had in Miami to Chicago.
