Official Look at the Air Jordan 1 and 31 'Shattered Backboard'
Michael Jordan shattered all expectations when he took his talents to Trieste, Italy, the summer after his rookie season. Jordan pushed the boundaries of the game of basketball and shattered backboards in the process. In what was just another game, the implications of shattered glass live on today globally.
The Air Jordan 1 "Shattered Backboard Away" features a white and orange leather upper that plays off the original Air Jordan 1 "Shattered Backboard" release from June 2015. The "Shattered Backboard" collection pays homage to the uniform Jordan wore during exhibition games in Italy.
Release Date: Saturday, Oct. 8
Price: $160
Howard White, the vice president of Jordan Brand, discussed the moment that inspired the "Shattered Backboard" shoes.
"Glass was everywhere. The backboard exploded. I’m looking at his eyes, his ears…looking for little bits of glass. In the moment, it was wild. It was a little scary, because we didn’t know where the glass was going. They were playing and then there was that moment. I don’t know of any moment where one can detect something otherworldly has happened, but that one has become something grand. For MJ, though, it was just a moment in the game.

The Air Jordan 31 "Shattered Backboard" continues the Air Jordan 1 and 31 paired storytelling releases. The translucent outsole complements the black and orange Flyweave upper.
