Teacher Instructs Students Not to Take Easy Way Out by Creating 'No KD Zone'

Kyle NewportAug 4, 2016

Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors this summer left the people of Oklahoma heartbroken. Rather than mope around, one teacher is using the 2013-14 NBA MVP's decision as a teaching moment.

Every teacher wants to see his or her students put forth their best efforts when it comes to their schoolwork. Cheating is not tolerated in school, as it is taking the easy way out.

That's essentially what Thunder fans believe Durant is doing—taking the easiest path to a title.

Ninth-grade algebra teacher Tucker Hein, an Oklahoma Sooners alum, decided to emphasize the importance of hard work by creating a "No KD Zone" in his Indianapolis classroom, according to Kelly Ogle of News 9. There's no doubt what his message is.

Whether it's because he's a true Sooner (Durant, of course, went to the University of Texas for one year), a bitter Thunder fan or simply a dedicated teacher, he's turned his perception of Durant's decision into a creative life lesson.
