Doug McDermott Happily Gives Up His No. 3 for New Teammate Dwyane Wade

Some athletes, like Dwyane Wade, have a special connection to their uniforms and may be hesitant to give up their number to accommodate a new teammate.

That's not the case with Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott.

On Wednesday night, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical broke the news that Wade was leaving the Miami Heat for the Bulls. Given McDermott had worn No. 3 in Chicago the past two seasons, fans looking to buy a Wade jersey may have been curious as to what number the longtime Heat star would be wearing.

No worries—No. 3 is all Wade's.

McDermott, who wore No. 3 at Creighton as well, posted on Instagram he was more than willing to give up his number for his new teammate. Because when you have a chance to get a player of Wade's stature, you do what it takes to make it happen.

With this generous gesture, McDermott had to have made a great first impression on Wade.
