Gordon a Viable Scoring Option When Healthy
Gordon has been dogged by knee and ankle injuries over the course of his career. In fact, the Indiana University product hasn't suited up in more than 64 games since his rookie season (2008-09).
But when Gordon has been healthy, he's served as a robust scorer at the 2 who can create his own shots.
According to SportVU player-tracking data, Gordon drilled 46.5 percent of his total pull-up jumpers and 48.2 percent of his pull-up looks from beyond the arc last season. He was also a respectable 35.2 percent three-point shooter via catch-and-shoot situations.
As those numbers indicate, spot-up shooting remained a pivotal part of Gordon's arsenal during his truncated 2015-16 campaign. The 27-year-old generated a solid 1.06 points per possession on spot-up looks, which was good enough to slot him in the 76.3 percentile among all players, per Synergy Sports play-type data.
Based on his scoring capabilities alone, Gordon is worth a gamble. However, Gordon presents a risk for the Rockets, as he has been such an injury-prone player.
