Mike Budenholzer Found Not Guilty of DUI: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Matt FitzgeraldJun 27, 2016

Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer was found not guilty of DUI charges on Monday and was instead assessed a $150 fine for a taillight violation.

CBS46 Sports reported the news on Budenholzer's case, along with the amount he was charged for his violation.

Budenholzer was arrested on a DUI charge in August 2013 after being pulled over for taillights that weren't working.

The incident occurred before Budenholzer had coached a regular-season game in Atlanta. The Hawks hired Budenholzer after his long tenure as assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs, who won four championships during his time there.

Budenholzer guided the Hawks to the playoffs in his first season, albeit with a losing record. Then he took his squad a step further, going 60-22 during the 2014-15 campaign and garnering NBA Coach of the Year honors as Atlanta advanced to the conference finals.

This past season the Hawks took a step back, advanced only to the conference semifinals and were swept for the second straight year by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With the potential departure of big man Al Horford in free agency and the loss of All-Star point guard Jeff Teague in a recent trade, Budenholzer will have to be at his best to get Atlanta back to the postseason in a markedly improved Eastern Conference.
