Paul George Names New Pit Bull After Kobe Bryant out of Respect for the Mamba

Even in retirement, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant continues to receive some special honors.

The latest tribute comes from one of his former peers.

Early Wednesday morning, Indiana Pacers star Paul George took to Instagram to show off the newest member of his family. No, not a baby—a pit bull. 

An athlete getting a pet isn't particularly noteworthy, but the fact that George named his new dog Kobe out of respect for the Black Mamba is a cool story. That just shows what kind of impact Bryant has had on the current generation of NBA stars.

Hopefully, Kobe gets to meet the Mamba one day.
