Adam WellsJun 14, 2016

Jerrel Stoudemire, brother of Miami Heat center Amar'e Stoudemire, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and beating the mother of his child, per TMZ Sports

According to the report, Stoudemire was arrested in Hodgeman County, Kansas, on Monday night and "was booked for aggravated battery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and criminal depravation of property."

Police officials told TMZ they believe "Stoudemire went to the woman's home and waited for her to arrive. When she pulled up, he rammed his car into her vehicle...and then pulled her out and beat her."

The report noted that Stoudemire "allegedly dragged the woman into the basement" of her house, where he "continued to attack her for several hours."

Stoudemire is due to appear in court on Tuesday after the woman's daughter found her mother "unconscious in the basement," per TMZ.

In 2011, per Jon Johnson of the Eastern Arizona Courier, Stoudemire was accused of harassing a former girlfriend with whom he had a child. Per the New York Daily News, it is "unclear" if this is the same woman he allegedly attacked on Monday.

The 28-year-old Stoudemire is a former athlete who signed to play college football at Akron as a defensive lineman in 2006, but he never appeared on the team's roster during his tenure at the school.
