Michael Jordan Reportedly Used to Dupe Scottie Pippen on Arena Game Bets
Like Rick Ross, Michael Jordan was hustlin'—as in tricking Scottie Pippen out of $100 a game one season.
One day before a Bulls contest, the GOAT reportedly arrived at Chicago Stadium extra early, about the same time the operations crew was running through pregame preparations. This included putting together in-arena games—like the one where three cartoon bulls raced and the crowd guessed the winner.
Amin Elhassan recounted a story on an episode of Zach Lowe's ESPN podcast, The Lowe Post, about how Jordan would leverage the intel he acquired to cheat Pippen out of a single Benjamin per game.
"Mike is watching this and says, 'Oh, you guys already know [which one will win]?'" Elhassan said. "And the guy says, 'Yeah, it's all prerecorded."
"Fast-forward: Game, timeout, Phil [Jackson] is drawing up some play. Mike goes to Scottie and says, 'Hundred bucks the red one wins,'" Elhassan said.
Sure enough, the red one won. As did every one Jordan picked the rest of the season. And Scottie never caught on, according to Elhassan.
