Fox Sports Reporter Emily Austen Fired After 'Insensitive Comments' About Race

Thomas DuffyJun 10, 2016

Fox Sports cut ties with Tampa Bay Rays and Orlando Magic sideline reporter Emily Austen after she made "insensitive comments" on a Facebook live stream with Barstool Sports, per Tom Jones of the Tampa Bay Times.

Austen called Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love "a little bitch" several times, noted she "didn't even know Mexicans were that smart" and said the "Chinese guy is always the smartest guy in math class."

The video is no longer on Barstool's site, but Kevin Draper of Deadspin found the entire clip (warning: NSFW language).

Toward the end of the session, Barstool's Dan Katz told Austen, "We might have to hire you because you're going to get fired."

Here's Fox's statement (via Jones):

"

We were made aware that Emily Austen appeared in a social media video unaffiliated with FOX Sports in which she made insensitive and derogatory comments. She was not speaking on behalf of FOX Sports, nor do we condone any of the statements she made in the video. Emily has been advised that her comments were unacceptable, and she is not scheduled to appear on any upcoming FOX Sports Florida or FOX Sports Sun broadcasts.
