Joseph ZuckerMay 5, 2016

Police in Tampa, Florida, arrested Jaleel Cousins, brother of Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, on charges of misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest, according to Hillsborough County public records.

Per the Tampa Bay Times' Joey Knight, Jaleel was involved in an altercation at a Tampa-area nightclub:

"

A Tampa Police Department arrest affidavit redacts the location of the arrest, but the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrest report lists it as 302 S. Howard Ave., site of The Drynk nightclub. After a verbal altercation among several subjects, Cousins was observed striking another patron with a closed fist, leading to a fight between the two, according to the arrest affidavit.

Knight also reported authorities used a Taser on Cousins after he disregarded verbal orders to stop fighting.

TMZ Sports reported the altercation began when Jaleel and DeMarcus Cousins attempted to gain access to the club's DJ area before security intervened, at which point the two sides squared off.

"There was no indication of any involvement by DeMarcus Cousins," said a police spokesperson, per TMZ Sports.

Police arrested Jaleel at 2:50 a.m. and released him on $1,000 bond, per Hillsborough County records.

TMZ Sports shared a photo of the Cousins brothers at the club posted to Instagram by D.J. Flee:

Jaleel played two years for the South Florida Bulls from 2014 to 2016, appearing in 65 games and averaging 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per night.
