Dwyane Wade Passes Wilt Chamberlain on NBA's All-Time Playoff Scoring List

Danny WebsterMay 1, 2016

Miami Heat star guard Dwyane Wade needed only 12 points during Miami's 106-73 Game 7 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, but they were historic.

On a free throw with six minutes, nine seconds remaining in the second quarter, Wade surpassed Wilt Chamberlain for 17th place all-time in playoff points, per ESPN on Twitter. The three-time NBA champion and former Finals MVP is now up to 3,614 postseason points.

He'll have a chance to climb even further up the all-time list in the second round after Miami's victory at AmericanAirlines Arena. Wade is nine points away from tying Elgin Baylor for 16th place and 28 points away from tying Scottie Pippen for 15th.

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki is the next active player on the list with 3,663 points.

This year marks the 11th time Wade has made the playoffs in his career. He's averaged 22.8 points per game in 159 career postseason games.

Wade's climb up the postseason scoring list is a testament to how great of a player he is. He's been surrounded by superstar teammates in the past, such as Shaquille O'Neal and LeBron James, but Wade has long been the constant presence who's led Miami to many postseason appearances and championships.
