Donald Sterling to Appeal Dismissed Lawsuit Filed Against NBA: Details, Reaction
Nearly two years after he was banned for life by the NBA for making racist remarks, former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, 81, is still attempting to fight the league and his wife, Shelly Sterling, in court.
The Los Angeles Times' Nathan Fenno reported Thursday that the ostracized Clippers owner "has filed notice" he will appeal last month's decision by a federal judge to dismiss his $600 million antitrust lawsuit claiming Shelly conspired with the NBA to sell the team in expedient fashion.
Donald, who sold the Clippers to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for a record $2 billion, "had claimed in the lawsuit that he could have gotten more than that for the team but the circumstances of the sale 'markedly reduced' the price," according to ESPN.com.
On Thursday, Shelly Sterling's lawyer condemned Donald's actions in a statement provided to the Orange County Register's Dan Woike:

"Ironically, Donald, in defeat, is the beneficiary of $2 billion, secured by Shelly in her courageous battle in doing the right thing to protect her family and ensure that her beloved team would be sold to a conscientious owner who would take the team to the next level of excellence," Shelly's attorney, Pierce O'Donnell, said last month when Donald's suit was dismissed, per ESPN.com.
According to Fenno, Shelly and Donald are still married after they reportedly decided to nix divorce proceedings in March. Donald's attorney, Bobby Samini, said in an email to Fenno that the two sides had "resolved their differences."
