We Remember: 30th Anniversary of Michael Jordan's 63-Point Game vs. Celtics
Thirty years ago today, Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan dropped an NBA playoff-record 63 points in a game against the Boston Celtics.
Jordan, in just his second season, had the daunting task of going up against Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge and Co. But being Jordan, he wasn't afraid of the challenge.
The 23-year-old Bulls guard went 22-of-41 from the floor and 19-of-21 from the free-throw line in his record-setting night. Mind you, this was a Celtics team that went (an NBA-record) 40-1 at home during the regular season, and Jordan went into the Boston Garden and had himself a game.
Jordan's big night wasn't enough to lead his team to victory, though. The balanced Celtics pulled out a 135-131 double-overtime win, ultimately sweeping the best-of-five series in three games.
